Lumenbox, the subscription streaming service, added 400 titles to its library this month, the company said Wednesday, and expects subscribers to scroll past nearly all of them on the way to a show they have already seen.
In a letter to shareholders, the company said the new titles included 112 films, 61 series, nine documentaries about other documentaries and a cooking competition set on a train. It said “engagement with new arrivals” rose 0.3 percent in the quarter. A footnote defines engagement as a title remaining on screen for more than two seconds during scrolling.
What Viewers Watched

For the 19th consecutive month, the service’s most-watched program was Ward Nine, a hospital drama that ended in 2014. “We’re thrilled with the new slate,” said Desmond Arkwright-Tull, head of content acquisition, on an investor call. “And we’re thrilled people keep coming back to Ward Nine. Both things can be true.”
A subscriber survey included with the letter found that the typical viewer opened the app, browsed for eleven minutes and selected Ward Nine. Asked what they planned to watch next, the most common answer was “probably Ward Nine.”
Lumenbox said it will add 380 more titles next month. They will appear in a row labeled “New for You,” directly beneath Ward Nine.
